Portland, ME

Post by MCsisar on Fri Sep 23, 2011 2:40 pm

So I'm thinking about doing a weekend trip to Portland come November. Any things worth checking out / seeing? You guys would know the area better than myself. I'll have the girlfriend with me, so as much as I'd like to check out the Allagash brewery, I think it'll have to wait.

If you can't go to bars your missing out on a lot.... But there is still tons to do. You could go up on Munjoy Hill and start a race riot, or down to St. Johns Street and get stabbed by a junkie.....

If that's not your thing you could check two lights, go whale watching, eat some great food in the old port, go shopping in the old port, hit up the Shipyard Gift shop.....

Yeah it's at the same place as the gift shop, you can take a tour of the bottling plant and then get free samples....yum.

Man, I've been joking with some friends of mine down in Portland that they really need to take me to the worst ghetto so I can try out some new blades. They keep telling me Portland has some weird regulations about sheath knives and tomahawks. scratch

It's really not that bad.... just like any city there are good and bad places. Walk around the old port, you will find something fun. Ask the bar keeps ^.^

Also depends on how much money you want to spend and what you want to do. I've only lived in Portland a few months, so all I really know is the Old Port:

I usually go to Bull Feeney's, it is a good bar too with some great bands. I like RiRa's too, the food is great (Guiness burger ftw) and atmosphere is good. Novare Res is a beer lovers kinda place, tons of selection, but a bit pricey. If you want to do some dancing, then head over to Wharf Street, the clubs there are Oasis and 51 Wharf. Thats all I got for now

You could trek to sanford airport and take a scenic plane tour. I think they do them out of portland as well.
